My 12 inch black wolf does not eat! Got him for the first few days, and ate market prawn 1 each day for 3 days, subsequently did not eat live feeders or even frozen market prawns. And has flickering tail even at rest, why? Help please?

Don't worry he will eat, just give him time for him to get comfortable.

As far as him eating first and then stopping, that's just fish being fish.

Well my 13" black wolf was the same way when i first got him, he ate once but didn't eat for two weeks after that. But then he was following my every move when I had a silverside in my hand,so I would say just relax and believe me he will be alert and starving because all wolf love to eat and a lot :headbang2

What about the tail flickering? Looks like very minute spasms on his tail Periodically. Varies from every 5 seconds to 30 seconds, it will flick, seems abnormal to me. But no injury or whatsoever. Any ideas?

Cichlids do that ands bunch of ther fish do that. As long as he isn't flashing against the gravel or tank decorations your good. Make sure water quality is good. Also if you just got him and he came from a supplier and he doesn't eat for more then two weeks again he might have a parasite. But that is just the worst case scenario

I am not questioning your husbandry practices but it could be things like the tank size or water quality.

Assuming that all is good I don't think you should worry.
My old black ate for me the first day but some fishes are different, some take more shock to being moved than others.

I mean my setup is the same at the local fish shop and also all is well and fine, but I was wondering why even at rest there is tail spasm as such going on. Like what's the underlying cause.

Hmm, is there a chance you can post a video? I think I know what you mean but can never be sure exactly unless we can see it.
