for those that have black substrate and a black background, do you feel like its too much black? im trying to decide if i want to do black sand. i love the look of the black background on my light sand but im not sure how i'd feel about black

Depends on the fish.My yellow labs, fronts and other bright or silver fish look great on black. My sons tank with rainbowfish and albino cories lookks fantastic as well.My jds or black angels, chanchito were all nearly invisible in tanks that were too dark.My lelupi turned brown and looked like crap on black sand, looked much better on white.

I love the black on black. I know mine might not be completely black, but
it is as black as I could get it and still look natural.
Makes my fish's colors pop. Also, I like it nice and dark. It sets the mood. :naughty:
You can already see their nest on the left side of the tank.

This is 200 lbs of "Chilean Black". Noticed it's all polished rock. very nice quality. Not cheap.

I have a black background with black and white mixed gravel. I wish the gravel was just all black, it looks amazing. The fish's colors really pop with the black background so without the white gravel mixed in i'm sure it will look nice.

I have black rocks and a dark blue background on my 125. When my pbass really color up it looks great.

had black on black on my old 55

I love it, Brings out the colors in my fish, and makes it super easy to focus on the fish and not the tank.
