Blast From The Past

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
They have the mega fish formula. Decent sized pellet but unfortunately not the consistency of massivore. Damn things are as hard as stones and not as flat shaped. The bigger Polys have no issues getting it down. The one thing i dont like about nls is how they size the pellets. In some containers the wafers are different sizes and shapes but have the same size on the label. Id prefer more flatter wafers like massivore
The shops here carry a limited selection of NLS for some reason and they don't carry that mega fish formula.I may have to get it online.....and yeah, their stuff is as hard as ball bearings!

I alternate the pellets with allot of tilapia so they last awhile. Last bucket i baught lasted almost a yr.

Haha definitely ball bearings. I wonder of the hardness adds to the mess. Fishing having to grind it down in order to swallow it. I definitely notice a mess when the cichlids eat it

I do have a jar of NLS Algea Max pellets for my silver dollars and synodontis catfish. They are pretty big sizewise but I haven't opened the jar yet to see how hard the stuff is.

I feed the same to the pearsei, i wanna say they're a bit softer but doesnt sink as fast as the mega fish... thats stuff sinks like a wise guy wearing cement boots

10mm megafish.

I cant stand how nls doesnt have the same pellet options across the different formulas. Mega fish 10mm algae max 7.5 or something and so on. I just ordered a 2000g tub of the TheraA but couldnt find a large tub in 10mm. Those little cans wouldnt last more than a few weeks maybe a month. Had to settle for 6mm what a p.i.t.a some of them sink, some take forever, and other never sink at all. Last time i buy it. Going back to mega fish and might try and get them to take some massivore too

Yes, a true MFK classic. At one point the president of Hikari USA emailed me on my home PC asking if myself and RD was one in the same? My response - why, is there a job opening in marketing? He didn't think that was all that funny, and neither did the head of R&D in Japan. I received a rather scathing email from him as well. Conspiracy theories must have been flying back & forth across the big pond?

NLS has changed a lot over the past several yrs, I don't keep up with a lot of it. One of the reasons they don't have ALL of the various sizes, in all of the various formulas, is simply due to sales on some of those items. If the sales are there they will produce them, if not, they won't. Keep in mind that NLS is still a family owned and operated company, that make and package all of their own products. Not making excuses, just sayin.

They've certainly got my support for that....any idea why their pellets are so hard?

Also noticed the massivore is different from the last 2 bags I've bought... nothing to do with floating but much harder in this new bag than from last... was dissapointed as some of my fish aren't eating it because of said problem... expensive stuff for that to happen
