I have a post about this somewere lol but im using it in my 130 and looks great .... its real fine is the only problem with it ... it sticks to my ray a little bit but so did every other fine sand i've used .... u need to wash it reallly good i used a pillow case and a 5gal bucket then put it in the tank for a week stirring it and using the phython to clean it up a little more but with that said i think the first cleaning would have done it...hers a couple pics for ya but i think you'll like it

This blasting media is a mix of crystalline silica and coal slag. NOT recommended for use in aquaria.

I wish someone woulda told me that when i made a post about it ..... I've read on several forums of people using it and im using it with no problems at all my fish are happy as can be ....maybe in a few months they'll show signs of black lung from the coal ;)

Alot of these blasting sands are made either whole or in part with mixes that may contain boiler slag, smelting slag, carbonized nut shells (these tend to float), coal slag, and various metals. The safest would be the coal slag but, with no studies on long-term effects, the safe route is to use a substrate comprised of known inert materials.

@charlie how long have you been using it?
I've been using it in this tank for a month or so now i guess ,i'm no expert on sand by no means but i did alot of reading before i threw a few hundred dollars of fish in there ....but i'm sure @oddball knows way more than me hes been at it alot longer
so i guess its really up to you.. i used pool filter sand before and like it but it's much coarser and sharper...i also read somewere
toys r us has colored play sand black blue red not very many colors but i havent went to look cause i had this black diamond
but maybe you can look into that ....anyway let me know what you do i'm curious:D
