i puchaced 2 digitate acro corals for my 28g nano led. i floated the bag for about 20 minutes, like i usually do to temp acclimate. normally i dont do a coral dip. i have only lost 1 coral so far using this method.

i added the coral to the spot i plan to keep it, towards the top.

the mistake i think i made was not lowing the light time enough. i only dropped it from 12 hour to 10. liveaquaria, where i purchaced them recommends to start at 4 hour a day then add an hour every 3-5 days.

i noticed at after first adding them they had more of a brownish color, i was told this is due to shipping stress. now on 1 of the corals ive noticed about 1/2 of it is turning white, not good. so today i lowered the light to 4 hours.

i havent notice either coral open up since i added them last thursday. ive been doing daily feeding of marine snow to see if that helps.

as far as water parameters i think im right on.
temp -79
ph-8.17
cal-410

mag-1350
phos-0
nitrate-0

i also have 2 other sps corals, a birdsnest and 1 in not sure of the name, that are doing great. but acros can be more difficult.

i hope im not too late.

anything else i could possibley do besides lower the lighting?

water flow shouldnt be an issue. i have 2 -266gph powerheads alternating with a wavemaker and a vortech mp10 set at about 800gph.

there is only 1 problem i may have down the road, i have a finger leather coral on the opposite side if the tank. i know they can release toxins that can can harm sps corals. should i remove and sell the leather now before i create a problem?

IMO, stop feeding "marine snow". My tank is doing better since I stopped. I think you're right about the lights... it will just take time. Watch them closely and make sure they don't get "white-er". I doubt the leathers released anything if their conditions (water) is good.

well. 1 for the corals is still a brownish color, no bleaching, and i did see it trying to open up last night.

the other 1 is completely bleached now. the funny thing is its an area with a little less light.

im hoping it can recover but it doesnt look good. i turned the water flow up some to see if that helps.

the only other thing i can do is remove it from its rock and move it to the bottom for now.

maybe i didnt acclimate it well enough. i have another 1 coming today, i will take extra time to acclimate it. i will probably drip this 1.

u dont like the marine snow? i have had good results using it with sps growth.

NO, I haven't to be honest. I have 2 monti digitata, 1 birdsnest, 1 (chocolate chip?) acro and 1 monti cap. They've all been growing better since I stopped using the marine snow. Not sure why...

that seems odd. but odd things happen often if this hobby.

what are u using to feed now?

I only feed flakes, pellets (not sure the type) and mysis. My corals simply get what they need from that. I am religious about my weekly 15-20% water changes and run a 175 watt MH on a 20 gallon.

what ever works right..

my total water volume with the sump is 48gal. i change 10% per week.

I am pretty sure they recommend(as well as many other places) that you start them in the bottom of the tank with little light and slowly over weeks move them up into the spot you want. Putting them in direct light(even for a shorter time frame) can/will shock and bleach them.
