Blind orino - keep or cull

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
dont kill the guy. just take extra good care of him if he dies he dies atleast it wasnt you that killed him right?

I have a ~50cm clown knife with one eye missing, his eye socket has almost completely closed up (there is no longer an eye socket its flush with his face)

Eats very well, his smell is amazing.. really is great to watch him seek and destroy pellets on his blind side with no vision of it whatsoever.

Keep

Hey Tim, How is that orino doing???

Still not really eating. He may be blind in both eyes. No idea how. He seekd out bloodworm but that isn't enough to sustain him.
I'm just hoping he will start eating pellets soon.

You may have to dangle earthworms in front of its mouth.

i have a totally blind orino, he doesn't eat when the other fish eat, but he's become a pretty handy clean up crew. at least i don't have to feed him by hand anymore, that was getting old in a hurry.. lol.

Feeding him fingers?

actually the fish i have to feed by hand are amazingly gentle when they take food out of my hand. i thought i was gonna be bit too.. i've been snapped at by my big arowana and my son was bit several times by my wolf fish (that i don't have anymore, and miss terribly).

update? where in wales are you?

I live in Wrexham, near Chester.

The orino is now hand feeding on prawn. He only seems to want to snatch up one then he keeps his distance. I really want him to learn to feed on his own. He comes right up to the pellets on the surface but doesn't eat them. He doesn't pick up prawn from the bottom either.
I've just got my fingers crossed at the moment. Hopefully he will learn.
