Coincidentally i had problems getting my xingu from monsterfish to eat too when I first got it. It took almost a week to get him to even taste bloodworms. A few days past and he would finally pick at the floating bloodworms that other fish missed.
Its been a month if not more and he finally will go after a full cube, no shrimp or pellets yet.

I also refused to get live fish or anything for him. His only options were shrimp, frozen blood worms, or a variety of pellets. Just keep trying guys, trainer fish are very helpful.

keep fighting the darkside, no live food. I do like how if john has his fish for long enough (being a week or more) he converts them to market shrimp. I got 3 azuls from him and they are all market shrimp eaters and will go after pellets but spit them out, and this is only after a week.

Well i guess we are all in for the long haul when it comes to getting these fish off live
Yeah,it's one of the things I miss about Sharkaquarium, most of their cichla were already eating pellets.
I doubt if the xingu and intermedia are wild caught.
