I have an ob zebra that has had what i assume is bloat. There is a bulge that forms around the business end. Not in the stomach, more or less right on the vent.
I followed this:
http://www.cichlid-forum.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=24132

Right now i am at day 6, the fish is alert and looking hungry as ever. Although i don't want to feed just yet as the bulge is still there, and doesn't seem to have changed at all.

Looks just like this, except a bigger "bulge"

Any advice?
Thanks a lot

Just follow the instructions fully. Realize that these fish can live a long time without feeding, so don't worry about them being starving. (And did it ever stop eating before you started treating it?)

It first happened a month ago, it went away quickly. But this time when it came back i figured it would be good QT and get meds. Stopped eating briefly and looked stress for about a day, but that was it. Its the bulge thats still hanging there...
I'll leave her in QT and see what happens then, unless anyone has any other tips.

While she was in the main tank i did not notice anything like that. And since this last occurrence it doesn't seem there has been any defecation as the bulge is literally right at the vent. The stomach is normal looking.

Ok my suggestion is to finish the treatment, then do a large water change. Leave her in Q-tank. Then for every ten gallons put in a handful of salt. Honestly I wouldn't rush though go ahead a give her just a little bit of food to see if she is eating. (If she isn't you might want to try a different method for treating bloat.) Keep with the salt for up to a month or till the bulge disappears.

if you want to feed something, try some peas... it may help in clearing the digestive tract if there is some blockage causing the bulge....
