I believe that I have bloat going thru one of my tanks, I already pulled my Bycolor out last week and treated him with Clout for a week but I beleve it was too late catching it. I could never get him to eat again and he died last night. I have a hap and a Lab that spit their food for the last two nights and are standing off from everyone else. I am having a real hard time catching them and I really need to treat the whole tank anyway. I don't want to use clout on on the main tank due to the staining but can't find anything else to use for bloat around here. Does anyone have any suggestions for medication to use on the whole tank that won't kill the biological filter?

Add lots of salt (start at a handful per 10 gallons.) Don't feed for at least a week.

Honestly it likely would be wise to pull rocks and vaccum the whole tank well. Plus you can catch the fish that are showing signs.

Salt will not help with bloat unless you are talking of epsom salts which is best used as a dip. What are you feeding your fish? What is the guaranteed analysis of your commercial foods? What are your water parameters? Excessive protein intake is often responsible for bloat cases.

I am feeding NLS Cichlid formula Water is ph=8.2, gh=11, kh=11, amon, nitra & nitri all good temp 81. weekly 40 per water changes and clean sand weekly.
7 3" fish in 75gal tank with wet/dry rated for 150gal for filtration. Everyone is happy and is only fed what they can consum in 30 sec.
none of the fish have swollen in the abdomin yet I just have a few spitting food and labored breathing, standing off from the rest of the group, not normal for them they always interact well with everyone.

I removed all my rocks except a few at the sand line, boy was ther alot of debris under the rocks, I have to figure out how to keep it from building up under and behind the rocks. I vacumed the sand twice once before and after moving the sand around. I ended up removing about 40 percent of the water. I was able to catch the two showing symptoms and put them in my 10 gal hosp. tank. I started them and the main tank on Metronidazole treatment. Some of the fish in the main tank are showing some signs of stress, I cut out the lights and put a air stone in the tank, also increased the water movement in the tank. My dragon blood is sometimes leaning over when he swims but his resporation is good and he isn't hanging around the bottom or top:confused: Hopefully he is just a little off due to all the changes and will be ok???
Is ther anything else I should do during the treatment?
Should I feed anyone?
I haven't seen anywhere if I should do any water changes during the treatment, should I? especially in the hosp tank I am worried about ammonia build up?:help2:
