Bloated green texas/parrot

Is there anyway his breeding tube could have burst or something? Because the last few days it was out and it looked bloated. Should I take him out of the water and examine him to see what that is? Or would that be too stressful?

i was thinking breeding tube, initially, but edited my post lol. That doesn't look like his breeding tube. It doesn't appear to be Camallanus, but there is some red in there. I think it looks like a prolapsed anus. It can be fatal if it doesn't heal and is causing blockage. Take a look closer when observing him, and research about Camallanus.

What's your tank temp at? You might want to raise it a few degrees int he 82-85 range and see if that helps. Only thing I can suggest is API General Cure just to prevent and help with anything. I think Jungle Tank Buddies Parasite Clear is the same thing. If it's a prolapsed rectum, it needs to clear on it's own. Only thing you can do is DO NOT feed high protein foods and you probably want to try to feed him as little as you can or fast him.

I don't think it's camallanus and I think/hope its a prolapsed anus.

I fed him a few pellets to see if he could pass it through and he did. Ill start feeding him very lightly but should I just give him peas until the swelling goes down. My tank temp is 82 but ill bump it to 85.

BTW thanks so much for your help!

your tank temp is fine at 82, no need to make it warmer. Just keep doing what you're doing and don't forget salt. Only thing I can think of is prolapsed anus or just constipation, but it doesn't look that bad. Just questioning about him being severely bloated for so long with no other signs of anything.

Epsom salt right? Im going to do a 50% water change when I get home tonight. That's good that you don't think it looks too bad. What do you mean youre questioning any other symptoms? Is there usually other problems that come with being bloated? The only thing I've noticed was his heavy breathing and once or twice I saw him rub his belly on the sand. But that was before I moved him.

more so at the fact that it hasn't passed by now. I guess it's only been a week, so give it time. Yes, epsom salt. Speaking of, need to get some!

I just got home and he's doing well. He not swimming too much and when he stops swimming he drops like a rock. I'm guessing something with his swim bladder?
