my 13" pearsei has a really bloated stomach...:nilly:
he's hanging on the bottom alot now, but is still takin food. i stopped feeding after i noticed this problem. i also did a 50% water change right away. i've bathed the tank w/prazipro...but i'm not sure if it'll cure this.
i kno it probably is an internal bacterial infection...but i never had any luck with anti-biotic :(
plz help!

Definitely get it onto a strictly veggie diet asap.

If you do isolate, be sure to add some extra air pumps and circulation in the tank.

Hope you the best. . . fingers crossed.

Pearsei are vegetarians in nature, as peanut power states and have a very long digestive tract to make use of that type diet, if you've been feeding high protein pellets or other rich meaty foods, that is causing the problem.
They would be better off on a diet of leafy greens and peas, mine would pound down a half head of romaine and a cup of peas.

Hope all turn out well with your pearsei

As everyone already said, Epsom salt is a great option. However, when you do decide to feed him, veggies are good. If you can get your hands on some duckweed, it flows through their system like a natural laxitive. I've heard Koi pellets work the same way. Good luck.

If it's a simple case of constipation an epsom salt bath &/or feeding veggies should help, if it's somethng more serious such as internal parasites neither will accomplish anything.

Personally I would opt for a different treatment, that being feeding epsom soaked pellets. Doing so will not only clean your fish out if it's suffering from constipation, it's also my method of choice for treating spironucleus/hexamita outbreaks. Just follow the directions in the following link.
