Blood parrot colors

So I have a pretty bright orange blood parrot and I am thinking about getting a yellow one to go with him

I read somewhere that they will change colors to match each other, does anyone know is this is true or not, will my orange one turn yellow or vice versa?

neither are dyed and come from a good lfs

I know the picture isn’t the best but it’s really the only one I have of him at the moment

All cichlids have the ability to change colors, but this is more of a response to other environmental conditions (blending in, subdominant fish show less strong colors, breeding). They generally won’t change just to match the other fish. With amphilophus and their hybrids, the degree of red, orange, yellow, or white is mostly genetic and is based on how much the offspring fades. A yellow parrot should be yellow, and an orange one will be orange.
