ok im having a debate with another member on whats the min size tank for 1 full grown bp is... hes saying a 30 gallon is fine for one full grown ( 12 inch ) bp im saying a 55 min but a 75 is more likly to be better for one.

wats your thoughts?

Considering they can have more mass than an Oscar, 90gal or bigger is probably a healthy range. I don't know how their metabolisms are, though, since they grow so slowly. Daily caloric intake might be much less than an Oscar's, but still - give the fish room to pace at least.

Obviously the bigger the better. They grow at about a quarter to half the rate of Oscars. They don't eat as much but can spray food from their gills like oscar do. They may be big but they are not close to that of an oscar when it comes to being messy.

Cmon...a 30. Try puting your small poodle in a closet for awhile. Common sense !!

like stated, they can grow up to a foot. and alot more bulkier then oscars are.
I wouldn't say 1' as an average, 7-9" is a much more common adult size (and it still takes years for them to reach that size, from what I've heard). I think a 55g is fine for the average adult (definitely not any less though).
