Blood Parrot Question

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Mine are typically all bright orange but one will get a few spots, look really neat and lose the spots within a few days. I kind of hope he keeps the spots so there is an easy way to tell him from the other one in the tank but we'll see what happens as they get a bit larger.

Don't worry about it too much. Spots don't even always indicate stress. Some parrots never peel and stay black!

You have a beautiful tank. Is that a flowerhorn? I love frontosas. I also have an African cichlid tank.

How big were your frontosas when they started getting their hump? I've had this about a
1 1/2 years. It's about 3 to 3.5" now.

Iirc my frontosa is about 2.5yrs... I can't really say when but I rem it was quite noticeable when young. I would say more than a year ago...

I think I have a picture of my tank here somewhere... let me search for it

Posted this pic somewhere dec 2017.. if you notice it closely you can see signs of hump. 1 more prominent then the other...... both are different fishes

The size should be similar to yours now

Also the one with hump grew much faster than the rest.... in fact I should have 2-3 with humps but the biggest is the one you saw and the other 2 slightly less prominent

But it seems the bigger the hump the bigger the fish... there seems to be an order
