The pics are alittle older I found them on my phone just awhile ago and decided to post these as I was to last to do the water change I planed to do today anyways this is from when I first got them and they all shared the 75 gallon I swear they have grown some since then probably close to an inch each oh and just wondering is it unhealthy for them to always spawn? These guys are always laying eggs on the holey Rock their in front of in the picture but they always eat the eggs after a couple days is this normal it seems it would stress them to do this 2 or 3 times a month are they ok to keep doing this? Oh also here are my smaller BPs as well when they all shared the tank. Lol you can tell they had eggs when I took this with all the smaller ones in the middle staying away from the large pair the little ones would actually hangout and wait to try to sneak in and snatch a couple eggs off the stone.

I'm in need of a list of fish that can and have been successfully kept with blood parrots In a 75 gallon aquarium. I currently have three 2" BP's and would like to add some other tank mates, community friendly or tolerant if possible.
You will be extremely surprised what can be kept with blood parrots koi and fancy goldfish can even be kept with them now it depends what you would like to have with them bichirs would do fine several different types of loaches some other cichlids can as well such as angel fish, frontosa, Rams it depends on what you would like in your tank

My blood parrots do the same if you look carefully the eggs turn white after a couple days and that's Bc they are bad so they are eaten blood parrots rarely succeed breeding in aquariums mainly Bc they are a man made species so it is extremely hard for the eggs to actually fertilize I have 2 blood parrots about 5 inches long they lay eggs all the time than when they turn white they are eaten I've also tried what you said removing some eggs but that didn't work they still turned white and a little fuzzy stuff began to grow on them hopefully one day our blood parrots will breed

Although I know that blood parrots lay eggs for the past 6 years I've never seen eggs in my tank. I know my fish are all females too. Maybe they don't last long enough for me to see them but I always see them pushing the gravel away and making those circles in the gravel but I've never seen the eggs

Try putting something smooth in the tank or flat surfaced for them to lay the eggs on even drift wood my blood parrots love laying them on my drift wood or my giant river rock

Wow really mine lay a lot of eggs pretty frequently too maybe it's because you don't have a male I noticed my "male" as I'm calling him would coral the "female" as she is know back to the stone pretty frequently right before the eggs would show up in my tank. I was kinda skeptical to see if these were male or female as both of the fish vents appear female with dropped tubes on multiple occasions but I've seen them both garding the eggs and tending to them even doing some of the pregame lip locking I kinda stopped questioning it after they layed eggs in the quarenteen then about a week and a half later in my big tank. Now I'm actually wondering if they are male or female? Lol I guess it doesn't matter but I'm weird so I guess I'd like to know

See I read males were like 99.5 percent steril and at times I question if their even a male and female pair or if somehow I have stupid fish and two females have paired and they previous owner just saw eggs and thought pair so that's what he sold them to me as idk what I would like to do is try breeding my female who I know is a female at atleast have a better clue of what she is as I think I saw her actually laying the eggs once to a flowerhorn to keep and sell some fry. Oh btw I have pics of when I bought them of their vents if anyone knows how to sex these fish!!
