I recently got a 7"-8" BP that changes from red to white routinely. One day he's blood red and another day he's white again. Does anyone now what causes this and how to stop it. I'd prefer he stay red 24/7 since that's why I bought him

You can ask it politely? hahaha, yeah, my guess is it's a mood thing if it's doing it that routinely since it'd eliminate things like water quality

prob jelly bean parrot(artificially colored) they lose there color after a while. kinda cruel. if not check your parameters color changes like that indicate stress.

Artificially colored fish fade over time right? Be different then switching back and fourth?

Yes your correct. Dyed fish color goes away overtime, it would be way different if it changes color back and forth. Although I've had goldfish that is all bright orange and turned all white 5 years later. Hehehehe.
From your description, sounds like a mood swing to me. Nothing to worry about.

do you have enough of oxygenation and good water quality? this things was happened to my Blood parrot in the time that we have no electricity for 2 days.

I've heard you can feed live or frozen bloodworms to BP'
s and that will help them retain their reddish coloring.

Cichlids change due to their moods. I know you prefer it red but you can't make it red, lol It's just changing due to it mood or you have a dyed one. Can you post a pic of him? That would help to see if it's dyed.
