hey everyone,
been working on getting some babys from these guys, on the 2nd spawn now and im seeing a handful of viable eggs. male trimac does well with her but does sometimes go crazy and I yank her out the tank for a few days but then all is well again. im working on getting parrot shape with trimac colors
excuse the bad pic the tank is in a screened in room so its bright.




 
ok so she messed them up by eating them again :/ so i watched for the next spawn which came a few days ago and I snatched the cup out with the eggs and put them in a 15g tank, I have been using a chop stick to knock off the white eggs from the bunch and 2 days later I have wigglers :D

 
Best to get parrot shape with trimac colors would be to cross a male vieja to a female trimac. You won't get many fish from parrot mouths from female blood parrot outcrossed to a male thats not one of the ancestral species. For some reason the other mouth is dominant.

but are you sure thats a trimac?...
 
yes im pretty sure its a trimac, got him from here http://www.floridatropicalfishdirect.com/ which happens to be local to me so I can take a drive by there and check it out first hand, I believe that its a trimac but have seen many flowerhorn that look the same as him to me. i'll get some better pictures of him in the morning. thanks for the advice on the vieja.

I hope not, I would have some words with the gentleman from where I got him and have to start over on this female since I have a fh/bp couple in a different tank doing their thing.
