Arnt gold sevs just xanthism form of Heros severus? Xanthism brings out only red and yellow pigments.
Again ture Severums are not to do with this, other than my point that there is sterility issues with fancy severums (golds, reds), this was a point made by myself as a scenario similar to the blood parrots being sterile had they not been a hybrid at all.
And nope they are not Heros Severus, 100% of common Severums in the trade are mongrel interbred species of 'Heros Efaciatus' (greens, golds, reds all can max out at 12").
Heros Severus (mouth brooding severum) is the elusive mouth brooding Severum that is rarely seen, this severum is a 8" max fish that is more streamline, a cream colour with red/green spots.
Heros sp. Notatus (spotted severum) are similar to Efaciatus, and probably bred into the mutts we see in the LFS's, they are a large Severum (up to 12") with black small spots on a gright metallic green background.
Heros Sp. Rotkeil (red shoulder/neck severum) are a smaller type of Severum, very similar in looks to the Green Severum but with a red collar, they grow to a max 8"
Of course there are tons more being pulled out of the amazon all the time.
The 'Gold Severum' in this thread is in no way a 'severum, or a heros' it is merley what the taiwan breeders call there south American mutt between Red Devil, Midas and Vieja Syns, because it has similarity's in shape, size and colour to the true 'Gold Severum' from south America.
