i've seen them for sale in toronto with no tail they had them listed as heart parrots, i hope they dont cut the tail off them to get that look that is horrible, but i guess fish arent really born without a tail

oh ,,,, thats a nice info.....dint noe that they are called Heart Parrots, even thou had them from Long........
how are the prices of Parrots and Flowerhorns in Toronto........ would be moving there in abt 7 months.....just wanted to know their prices there...........

Yup, they snip the tails off juvenile parrots to get the heart look. They also dye them with clothes dye and tattoo them with designs.

thats reallly sad........,,,,if they do it like that......

the parrots as juvenile go for about $25 a peice and the flowerhorns if u want one that is already showing a nice kok you will pay $200 plus.

Parrots aren't really sexable by venting, but due to the extremeley pointed nature of your parrots fins, I'd assume it is a male. Watch out though, as I've heard many male parrots are sterile. Close up also It appears to be crossed with flowerhorn, sb fader or something.

Bloodworms and shrimp are good foods for them, along with brine shrimp and whatnot. But it's important to remember that parrots have synspillum in them, and synspillums in the wild are primarially vegetarian. Ergo, it's important that parrot cichlids get a good chunk of greens in their diet. I feed mine spirulina enriched brine shrimp and algae pellets for this. I also put in zucchini for the plecos', but I don't know how much they like zuch.

so u can identify the sex from the nature of its pointed fins,,, as u say.....ok.... i also feel that its a male from the other commments as well......
umean to say there is some gene from a flowerhorn as well for its birth.......is it like that u mean .......

I've kept Blood parrots in the past. pointed fins means that is more likely a male but not a guaranteed way of determining gender. And Remember its also part midas/red devil so it will like shrimp, feeders, bloodworms.
