Maybe you can help the female from the second pair has been trying to lay eggs now for over an hour, so far nothing. She is doing all the normal motions but no eggs are coming out as she slowly moves over the rock. I've included pictures you can see her egg tube is all the way out.

Am I just being impatient? Or could there be a problem?

To me it looks like she doesn't have eggs and is going thru the motions anyways, or just a few eggs, her belly is not buldging out due to carrying the eggs.

This is my female Saggitae Goldie, see how her belly is swollen some. This was taken the day before she layed eggs.20190111_153324.jpg

Turns out this one hasn't figured out how it all works yet. She finally started dropping eggs just after your response and the pair of them are currently eating them faster then she can drop them out. Oh well. :hitting:

Sorry for the late response.
I was just going to say before I read your last post.
It sounded like she’s basically doing practice runs.
It’s not uncommon for the first couple of times a new pair try to spawn.
But the fact that you have two pairs spawning or at least attempting to means you are doing something right.
Just keep up your maintenance and feeding routine and they will continue to spawn.
Congrats and good job.

The fry are just starting to free swim today....They are so adorable :hearts:

If the parents move them to somewhere I can actually see them properly I'll try getting a video or photo. The parents have done an amazing job (for a first spawn) I'd take a guess there are maybe 100 or so fry. In a tank with 4 other blue acara and the emperor tetras I didn't expect this many to make it to free swimming stage.

Very nice looking fish, a very under rated fish. See lots of electric blues but a nice natural acara is a beautiful thing. Keyholes are nice too, you must be doing something right.
