I was planning on getting some blue acara’s. the question I have is how many should I get?
are they better in pairs or by themsleves...
if you had two males could they fight would they get along if you had three or would a pair pick on the odd one out,
sorry about all the Q's just want to make sure before i jump in

With most cichlids one is the answer.Unless you want a pair, then get 6 wait for 2 to start laying eggs then sell the rest

What size tank do you plan on keeping these fish in. If its really big you can keep a few in it but if its small 1 or a pair is the only thing you could do.

:iagree: need to know tank size. but i would say if it a fairly large tank you could keep several they stay small (around 6") and are not agro.

Beware i know they have a rep as not being agro. but i had one that killed my juvie mang. and my salvini

Your fish must have been possesed, how many oscars are in the 200 just the one? you could fit at least 3 pairs in then.

i have not put the oscar in yet, i want the other fish to have a bit of size first. there will be one oscar, along with some silver dollars. i was looking at the blue acara's to fill in the tank. i know about bio load and the oscar will need at least 50 gallons to himself, but its a big tank and one oscar with a few silver dollars looks to plain. so i was thinking a couple of blue acara's just dont know how many, plus i dont want them to fight

in a tank that big you could do several 5-6 i would say. not shure how they will act if you get a pair.
