I would aim for 2m and 4f. I kept two males in my 4x2x2 with two oscars temperarily whislt my friend setup his 8x2x2, they kept to opposite sides of the tank and would occasionally lip lock. During the month they were in the tank the substained no damage from each other. I added lots of hiding spaces to help them get along and the oscars did their part.

i have 3 acaras 2 males and 1 females in about a 40. you could go with 4 acaras and a couple of firemouth and sajicas there very colourful.
