blue armed prawn

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
over here we get some thing similar, the claws aren't as blue though but are known to get quite large... that actually sell them as feeder shrimp here and yes they are voracious eaters... eating everything from plants to other fishes i've kept in my tanks... now i only have one left in my main tank which has survived in there for months now without ever being purposely fed...

They are often mistakenly sold as feeder ghost shrimp when they are small. You really cannot keep them with any other living creatures for very long because they will eat everything in the tank. They grow rapidly, are aggresive and have voracious appetites. I once saw one in lfs in a large tank with a large Jack Dempsey, the prawn was chasing the JD from one end of the tank to the other, leaping up at it to grab its tail and hanging on until it fell off. The JD was beginning to look pretty ragged, I told the owner and she removed the JD. You certainly would not want to put them with expensive fish.
