blue cray fish help

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
The pincher in the second picture looks short/stubby, a good sign that its a female. Males big claws usually look very long and thin.

Looks like an alleni, the claws and the body don't look right to be a quad. As for if its a male or female, claws can generally be a good way to tell. But if they've been damaged or are in the process of regenerating, it'll do you no good. If it's an alleni - http://www.crayfishworld.com/sexy.htm - Use the bottom pictures for reference.

This should help, I can find more information (I have links, emails from breeders, etc saved everywhere) if you want. I saved a lot of stuff for when I started breeding them, I just had my first brood actually lol. But anyway, P. alleni are a very aggressive species and mating can be difficult. If you don't have sexually mature adults, a male that's not in Form I, etc they often fight or kill each other out of frustration. But when you get them breeding you'll end up with huge broods soon enough!
