well i was wrong srry buddy i never knew they cld hold sperm....

i don't have any pics, but i will try to get some at feeding time. she's been hiding for the past week. usually when she hides like that, it's a sign of a molt coming on, but yesterday she came out of hiding with eggs dangling on her tail. i also wondered if crays could hold or store sperm, also. perhaps that's the case. we shall see. she's the typical electric blue crayfish. this morning, i got up and checked the tank, and she's hiding. i can see her hiding under a log with just the front portion of her body sticking out from under the log. i'll feed this afternoon. maybe she will come out so that i can get a pic and post on the site.

I had a similar situation after I got my blue Alleni, Agatha Lu. Woke up one day and BAM, a tail full of eggs! I understand they can store sperm for 6 or more months, and when they feel secure, they will release the eggs and attach them to their pleopods. The way to tell if they are fertile is by the colour. Aggie's eggs were dark and only got darker before she was a mommy 120+ times over!~ Good times........

i have caught wild crayfish from my river let the baby's hatch then get rid of the mom then sell my crayfish to my lfs
