Hi all i am having to move my flagtail out of my tank and into my sons crayfish tank but its not heated . The flagtail needs a heated tank what temp can a crayfish take thanks .

i have had one other crayfish. I actually bought a blue lobster yesterday. I dumped him in my 55 gallon with my BGK, Clown Knife and Royal Clown Knife. i usually keep the tank heated at 76-79. He's doing well. The other blue always seemed content at that temp, also. they are coldwater creatures and can withstand cooler temps but they are adaptable to warmer temps, which allows for tropical tankmates. here's a link for your interest. it covers the topic of temperature. good luck . . .

i keep mine at 79-80 f. and it must be too hot for him cause he got out today, tried to crawl off. pushed the seal open.

They should do fine at that temperature.

Crayfish are notorious for escaping from their tank at any temp.

If it's red and you have cajuns turning out infront of your house, it may be to hot in there for him.

But on a serious note. These temperatures should be fine. 80 might be alittle high but nothing to bad.

I was told if you have a blue cray fish and you want to let the blue colour to be darker they increase the temp in the tank. but they do fine in warm water.
