I ran into the same problem......I bought 3 blue dempseys for my 30 gal(Jr tank) I have 1 female 3" texas and 2 green terriors 1.5"-2" male and female. And 1 texas- flowerhorn mixed 1". I had to set up a 20gal because my texas-flowerhorn who is very mean too be so little, would chase them around the tank. They cost to much to became feeder fish

SourGirl, to be real with you this combo is never going to work for you. Like people have already said and you are fearing the Blue Dempsey's grow far to slow, and are far less agressive when compared to the Texas! By the time your little guy is ready to be tranfered your Tex will be double it's size. You are right too! The Texas if left alone or with one or two not evenly matched tankmates will claim that tank as his own. Once this happens that dempsey's history! This is only working for my buddy Kory who commented on this thread because his are Red Texas and are not ass agressive as the normal strain!. At least not when they are small. Also his Jacks are larger, but even he will eventually have problems! Blue Dempsey's are beautiful fish and could be a great center attraction for a tank, but then so is the Tex when fully growen. You should either give them their own tanks or decide which one you will want in the long run! Also those crays are quite large and I could see them looking at your new fish as a late-night steak! Be careful with that Good luck and nice fish!
