Hi, I have a question... would it be alright to have a few blue diamond piranhas together when they're little? Do they get along with each other? They will be in a 75 gallon tank for now. thank you.

Not a piranha expert, but I think they are a shoaling fish, I don't know of any that aren't.

:grinno:

No blue diamond refers to a S. Rhombeus which is a solitary species at least in the aquaria. If you're going to keep them together keep dividers in the tank and only one per section and eventually move them to their own seperate tank.

Pygo species are shoaling species.. not Serra genus piranhas..

Do you have a pic of your fish you can post It sounds like you have a
Serra and NO THEY DO NOT shole they are to keep as single
specimens .

You definitely don't want to keep more than 1 in the same tank. As far as shoaling goes, there are quite a few more species that don't than ones that do.

i just picked up a 3" blue diamond rhom a couple of weeks ago. i picked it up from the supplier, and he has a few others divided off in a tank...SEPARATELY! they were still trying to attack eachother through the dividers, it was like s. rhombeus Jerry Springer!

i definitely wouldnt keep more than one in a tank unless it was divided. just get ONE small one and you will enjoy it. my guy is pretty awesome and i havent even had him very long.

from the day after i got him:

from a few days ago: starting to get the diamond scales, filling out, and his back is growing...and he's put on over half an inch of length!
