No blue diamond refers to a S. Rhombeus which is a solitary species at least in the aquaria. If you're going to keep them together keep dividers in the tank and only one per section and eventually move them to their own seperate tank.

Pygo species are shoaling species.. not Serra genus piranhas..

Thanks for the learning experience, I had no idea piranha of any species were solitary. +1

some people have actually had success cohabbing some species of serra. s. sanchezi, s. geryi, s. spilopleura are a few of them. but only experienced piranha keepers should even think of trying it. but it has been done.

No offense but I dont think you have the experience enough to attempt a serra co-hab. Try co-habing Pygos for a few years and then give S. Maculatus/Spilos a try.

Puff....What in the HELL did you do to get a Serra to grow 1/2 an inch in 2 weeks?!?!

well he eats about 6-8 bite sized pieces of an array of foods everyday. i have no clue, but he has gotten noticeably larger in the 2 weeks. my gf saw him for the first time since i got him yesterday and couldnt believe it. i feed him some tiger prawn and tilapia mostly, i tried haddock but he didnt like it.

he has a 55 gallon to himself with a decent current, so he gets excercise, then he eats a lot...so i guess he's just bulkin up or something. ive never had a serra before so im not familiar with their growth rates, i only know that rhoms grow up to roughly 6" in the first year then after that slow down to about half an inch a year.

Yep puff you're right. S. Geryi are the most cohabable serra, and some have cohabed s. spilo and s. sanchezi but don't know anyone who's cohabing rhombeus. And you're right on the rhom growth rate and that one you have is awesome looking.

To the original poster again cohab p. natt. or p. tern or even caribe but start there first.

Ewurm no problem. But most lfs only carry p. natteri anyways. So you'd have to be hardcore into piranhas to know about serra's.

Thanks again and no offense taken. I've had red bellies for probably about three years now. I've got 8 currently. I've had over 10 of them before these eight. I just want to get something different now. Thank you guys.

mine is just about 4" and has some very nice colour. he is also starting to get his diamond scales.
