Lol It would just make people go elsewhere to find them fish. Why not 2-4 rbp n 2-4 caribe n throw in a piraya for good measure.that show people there's More than just rbp. School of 5cusp piranha be awesome too. Or a small pack of gold spilos?

I am not asking about piraya/pygos/caribe or why you think I should do them, I am asking about blue diamonds. I appreciate the input, really I do, but its not what I asked about.

Do all the LFS you go to that have display tanks have every fish they have on display for sale? They are there for the purpose of drawing people in and making them want to get a tank. If they are seriously interested in getting the fish in the display tank we do our best to help them out, but a lot of people just don't care. A lot of people go to pet stores just to see fish they've never seen before. The rarities and oddities catch peoples attention quicker and keeps them coming back.

I was wondering about that with their coloration. It seems just a little too bright and bold. Its a lot to drop into a fish and then have them come out not being even half as colorful as that. Can you keep me updated on how they look when you do order one? I am curious to see pictures from someone else than who is selling them.

Thanks for answering. I was just curious as to why fish stores do that.

Mine will ocassionally have a small shark or somethin in so you're right about lfs

I've been to aquascape and have seen many of the blue diamond (from 3-4" to 10-11" ones) in person and none of them are like the ones in the pix on their website.
I've also owned a few blue diamonds from aquascape and none had the kind of color like the pics on their website. some showed good amount of blue under certain light at certain angle, other wise just like an other diamond rhombeus.
the color of the fish really depends on the background and substrate of the tank, mood of the fish, light and your viewing angle.
My big diamond (most likely is a black) also show some nice blue/purple/green/gold diamond scales, especially under sun light or when light shine at certain angle.
if you have the cash to spend and willing to spend on such fish, by all means, IMO, any nice looking diamond rhombeus regardless it's a black, blue, gold, they are all equally beautiful.
here're some pics of a 11" blue diamond rhom at AE Aquatics that I took when the shipment just arrived at the store, just for your viewing pleasure. it's going for $700 if anyone is interested :)

Alright here is my two cents worth I think if you want to catch the eyes of your customers you shuldnt get the rhom I wuld go with a few sanchezies the purples I know they kind of look like rbps but have the nice deep coloration or go with a gold dimond rhom. The blue dimond from what I have read is not a gurantee on the blue coloration they can and often do turn out looking like the black rhom. I guss for what you want to know I wuld have to know more about what you guys actualy carry at the shop for rareitys any way prety sure you carry comen fish of the trade but what raritys you carry will realy help me help you with advice and informatin on your particular situation. Sorry for big run on.

Aquascape has some for sale right now, and they look totally freaking awesome. Are they really going to look like what they do in the pictures, and continue to look like that as they grow? They are more than expensive, so I don't want to dish out the bucks for one of those and be disappointed with the way it looks.

Does any one here have one? If so, could you post pictures or tell your experiences with it?

Reason I am asking is because at the LFS I work at they have given me permission to setup a display tank of my choice. I know most of you guys think I should do a shoal of rbs or caribe, but I really want this tank to be unique and really make people stop and stare at it. Something they aren't going to see normally. Thus the blue diamonds.

Thanks!

what size will be display tank be? if you are set on a rhom then I wouldn't go for anything less than 12", if you have the money and space, go for a 14"+ rhombeus, set it up nicely either in a planted tank or a tank with some unique driftwoods.
sanchezi does look nice but keeping them as a shoal is pretty difficult and I don't think your boss will be happy if the display fish disappears one by one over time.

I guess a Rhom made the top of the original list.

I am also curious to see what size tank your boss will let you set up for the local fish store you work at.

Photos of this project would be awesome.

Whats the budget on the Fish?

I agree about the sanchezies being hard to keep in a shol that's why I only sugested a few as in 2 or3. I'm thinking the same about pics aswell they wuld be nice.

Aye, but mostly because of the pictures of the BD on Aquascapes page. JP pretty much helped me confirm what I thought already though about them not really being that blue/purple. Still a nice fish, but not entirely sure its worth the price they putting on it.

Its a 125gal in wall tank. Not what I'd like, but its there already. :) It currently has a few tetras and some bristlenose in it, plus a few random plants. The guy who set it up and normally does it said he was sick of the way it looked and that I was free to do to it whatever I pleased. :headbang2

Its pretty rough right now, haven't even tried to start the transition of taking it over. Tis a lot of pressure to make it look good ya know? So I want to do it right. I'll get some pictures tomorrow night of it just to give you an idea of what it looks like now. Plan on changing some of it out to sand, some river pebbles (smooth, large ones), adding more driftwood, and attempting to get more plants going. :)

Whats the budget on the Fish?

Thats where it sucks. Its coming all out of my own pocket. I get discount for stuff at the store, so that helps, but the fish I want I'll have to order in. At least they will really be MY fish. Thats why I am trying to make sure of the fish I get, I want to be satisfied and happy with my purchase. :)
