Thats where it sucks. Its coming all out of my own pocket. I get discount for stuff at the store, so that helps, but the fish I want I'll have to order in. At least they will really be MY fish. Thats why I am trying to make sure of the fish I get, I want to be satisfied and happy with my purchase. :)

If this is the case then do a shoal of rbp. They are like 2.50 each and you can raise them.

$15.00 for a shoal of rbp

If I had more to spend I would do like 5-6 Gold Piranha's (these are like 10.00 each).

$60.00 for a shoal of Gold P's

If I worked at a fish store, I would not spend my hard earned money on a Giant Rhom (which would be the only way to go if you do a Rhom).

$400.00+

That is great that you can do what you want with the lfs's display tank. Very lucky.

If it were me I wouldn't want my high $$ fish in a Lfs where every tom, dick n Harry can tap n beat on the glass.non stop people walking by stressing him out n such! Where is this Lfs? Kc? Cobo? Stl?

I wouldn't want to drop any kind of huge money on fish that were not in my own possession/tank. I had a catfish that I was really attached to in a boyfriends tank, he moved, it went with, I couldn't see my fish as often and eventually the fish died from not so natural causes. :(

Its not like I had much invested since he was a free rescue fish but I lost my baby that had lots of personality. I should of had a tank for him so I could of taken him in but I thought he would be better off moving than living with 5 p's.

We plan on doing a community display tank with one of our large rhoms. At that size they really don't target hard to catch fish. They're more selective on what they eat or kill than smaller rhoms.

You must be talking guppies and tetras (or other fish of this size) for your community tank then?

Best of luck peanut. You'll have to let us know what you decide to go with and of course we'd love pics, even if it's transition pics of the tank now and builds up to your finished projects.

What other ideas are you kickin around? I'm sure piranhas aren't the only direction you're thinking of going.

the tetras I put in with my big diamond didn't last a month, I was surprised.

Neons are the best thing I found to keep with piranha. Neons are fast mofos! Piranha probably feel the bigger tetras are worth the effort to get the two bites. Where as neons aren't even a bite. Plus neons are dirt cheap compared to the bigger tetras.

I had 10 columbia tetras and 30 neon tetras with my rhom, all I have left now from that batch is 1 columbia. rhom is 12" and the tank is 180g. never would've thought it bothered to catch those snacks, guess it was really hungry.
