Oh shoot. Can't edit topic title. It's about Blue Eye Pleco and the tank anyway.

I recently acquired 13" Blue Eyed Suttonorum. First, I planned to house it in 280g tank but I have a second thought for that tank have 15" GATF + 4" 3 Tinfoil Barbs + 3" 1 Flagtail Barb. There're also 30-40 feeders in there

So I decided to house BES in 50 gallon tank (I moved BEC into small pond and oh boy he looks very happy) with 1 small bogwood + excellent outer filter instead. It's been a week and he already ate Hikari Algae wafer so I ain't that worried.

Question is, anyone ever attempted? Is it even possible to house this big guy in 50g?
I asked because it's much easier to take care of him in such tank. He also isn't that big or doesn't move that much anyway. Water condition is excellent also. I plan to put more branch-like bogwood in there but ain't sure whether I could keep him in 50g or not.

Your thoughts? Stay in small 50g or move to 280g and see what'll happen?

No way would I be keeping a 13" Plec in a 50g m8, far to small in my opinion, I would say 125g bare minimum, my panaques that size around 12"-16" live in a 430g (96x32x32) I only have 3 at that size, this is all just in my opinion of coarse, there will be people that do it but I wouldn't, i would use a bigger tank if you have one or build a bigger one, I can make 125's for next to nothing

Oh well, but my space is very limited and 50g and 280g are my show tanks. Another one is 180g glass pond but I already put 9” BEC in there so I won’t risk it. -_-;

Here is the pic. BTW 14” is from head to rear tail tip. Thinking of relocating him to 280g though. Then those Barbs are out.

BES was moved into 280g tank which’ll be his permanent home. He looks much better now. Should’ve done this sooner for his bahaviour is very different from when he’s in small tank.

What I noticed was that BEC and BES have very different eating habits. I hardly saw 13” BES munching on driftwood but he loves sweet potato. While BEC was just being a good wood eater.

Perhaps adult panaque munch on wood no more? Or driftwood was too small for him?

OK, BES is now settled in his 280g home. However he still don't eat cucumber or zucchini, instead he prefers sweet potato and LOVES Hikari algae pellets. This one also has strange habits for attacking blanched cucumber, wounding unlucky small dithers for trying to snatch his meal, hating water intake pipe with passion (?) and sometimes swim up to "hang" on wave maker (!).
One of the best fish I've kept so far. -_-b
