The blue eye pleco is Panaque cochliodon, I believe it was often called by the name of Panaque suttonorum (which yes was similar), but they didn't really match Schultz's description of them, so they got the aforementioned name. And yes everyone had them, they were very common, much like zebras and they stopped being able to import them, so they are pretty sought after nowadays.
