Something cool I thought I’d share:
While observing my new nano tank, I noticed one of my ghost shrimp had taken on a blue-green color:

It doesn’t come out too great in the pic, but it gets the point across. The rest are the typical clear or yellowish hue.
Any ideas why? I’m guessing it’s due to a lot of algae and hornwort in the diet. Can I expect this for all of them or is it just an anomaly?

It took me a while to spot the shrimp. Yes,
It is from the food. Yes, you can expect others to show it as well, with some variation, just to change when you feed them something else.
Yup agreed. Ik mine in the 55g planted tank are all white for some reason. My best guess is due to all the egg/snail shells that I've crushed up n thrown into the tank.

When fed a diet of spirulina, marmorkrebs turn blue as well. If you want to increase the blue in the others, feed more spirulina.

One more thought. The eggs carried by berried females have a green hue to them, regardless of the color of the food they are eating. This may also be contributing to the color of your shrimp. Is that specimen a berried female?

No eggs that I can see in that one - being one of the smaller guys I’d guess this ones a male as well. I’ll keep my eyes peeled though.
