ever time i go fishin for these lil guys my worm gets stolen. and they just nibble it off the hook. Is there anyway i can prevent this from happening? like a tougher bait to use? cause they love worms. and should i use a treble hook? also is there any bait that they love as well? like flavored stuff? AND any carp bait that i can buy that works pretty good cause they steal my bait as well. I get the nibbles then BAM no friggin fish and no friggin worm. Any kinds hook that would help
 
i use tiny hooks and cut the tip of a fake white worm and they go for it like theres no tomoro
 
cut the tip off? Like u mean cut em in half?
And anyone else?
 
im no pro fisher but i have some like fake white worms with like wiggly tail and i cut the tips of the tail and they go for it
 
If using live - only use part of a worm- thread the worm over the hook- this way they have to take the hook to get the worm. Also use smaller hooks- #8 work well for bluegills. I do this for sneaky trout and catch them all the time.
 
i think its probably the little baby ones that are stealing your bait as they can get a good bite on the hook. so they only bite side and pull it off

and in lake erie if im just castin out a bait and waiting what should i use? like hook, bait, rig, etc.

not if you want a live fish get a small hook and take about 1/4 of a Canadian crawler and sheath it over the whole hook so you cant see a hook only a worm...

source: i caught 4 for my tank.. treat them for parasites and released them today i caught all 4 in about 15 minutes and went home so just give it a try.

ps. got rid of them because im tired of digging worms now they are happily living released into a lake on goverment property
