Blue gourami dead

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
It could also be one of the gourami's, they can be vicious little snots. I had one that was boss of my tank for awhile, chased and nipped everything until my syndontis took care of it with a quickness one day. The female died several months later for no obvious reason.

Warborg;4818768;]You admit a known violent fish does show some pattern of violence yet you still want to blame a peaceful fish....hmmmm....

When the FH is the only thing left in the tank... who are you going to blame?

The fh is not the only thing left in the tank there are 11 other blue gourami you know

warmouth;4819018;]It could be the Pleco or the FH , especially it the Blue gourami was ill and it was a common pleco. How big is your tank and do you have a landscaped habitat setup for them (rocks, plants , driftwood)?

i agree with but all the other fish are healthy so chances are it might not be disease, i just remembered the Gourami sometrimes invade the plecos cave, and about the tank yup lanscaped it but no plants since you know what happens when the Fh sees it and sadly no gravel .

Driftwood will give the gouramis hiding places and the FH a smaller territory to defend.

i just remembered something a gourami died sometime ago and it had a red fin
you know the one near the gills , after it died a few days later another gourami this time blue got the samething but it didnt die i gave it away to my cousin as a birthday gift he healed eventually with medicine. he keeps it in a judging from the size a 10_14 gallon with a dwarf gourami another blue gourami(birthday gift) and a pacu

You cant just say it was the FH. Like i gave you my example, my FH is the dominant fish in my tank, yet in front of my OWN eyes, I see my rainbow shark beating up my other fish... hm

I had a Texas Cichlid grow up with a Black Shark together for 2 years... never once was there a mark on the shark until that last day when the Texas beat the crap out of the shark and he was floating(dead).

Yet in 21 years of having plecos I've never even had one sucking the 'slime coat' as so many have reported.

I have 2 common plecos.. one about 16" inches, and one about 7"- my smaller pleco is in a tank with midas.. they lay on the bottom of the tank at night, and never has the pleco ever bothered with sucking the slime coat- My 14" is in a tank that has bichirs in it, and again never any sucking issues.

I think my common pleco's are generally peaceful.. they eat when I feed them. I always make sure to throw in extra for them, and everything is all good..

Now, I have 4 FH's- 2 are barely 3", and they all must have their own tank because they are vicious. I had the 2 small ones in a tank together thinking they would be ok for a few days... nope- 24 hours, and one was getting beat.

Chances are it WAS the FH. OR the fish died for now reason.. Gourami's do that a lot.

You are a much better pleco keeper than some, Warborg. I always said a well fed pleco with plenty of space will not be a trouble to anything. Too bad plecos in general are looked upon for janitorial services rather than as part of the prized collection. I still have my 5-year old bristlenose pleco together with goldfish but bristlenoses are one of the most docile.:)

See here? If you have one flowerhorn that is a nonconformist to general belligerence, then sooner or later, it will snap out.
I have never seen a flowerhorn that is the exception to this.

The common pleco is not to blame. I've never seen plecos attack smaller tankmates just like that.

Blue gouramis as well are aggressive with each other especially males. How big is the tank?

What are the water parameters right now? And what med did your cousin use? A lot of health issues stem from poor water quality and no med will answer that except clean water.
