and i've often wondered if you could hybridize green anoles with the brown anoles

Thats interesting I know some anoles can. I dont think even in areas where browns and greens are found anyone has ever seen what could be a hybrid.

I think somebody with some brains should pick up a hand full and breed them not only to perpetuate this morph but also to make more colorfull combos, that would make people think twice before calling green anoles the herpeculture underdog;) They would make owesame vivarium inhabitants.

I always thought green anoles were on borrowed time. Like nature itself was slowly killing them off.

They seem so weak compared to other anoles . Even after the cold spell here I didnt find any dead brown anoles but did find dead green anoles and they are the actual natives.

they are slowly being killed off
the brown anoles are becoming so bad here where i live
their are barely anymore greens
i collected all the greens i could to breed them
and only found 3-4

Do you think it is the brown anoles or the lack of green wild areas?

As you know brown anoles lke curly tails can thrive even in cement parking lots while green anoles need lots of actual green.

Florida 100 yrs ago was very different than now which is why I wonder how much was the brown anole and how much was habitiat loss.

I have both around here but yes for every green there are dozen browns. I was surprised the cold affected the greens.

I've seen brown anoles eat green anole offspring
but have never seen it the other way around

and with green anoles sticking out like a sore thumb in urban areas i'm sure
the can be easily picked off by predators

so i believe it's both

The hibrid may be possible but avoid doing that, insted consentrate on the quest of making greens more popular, also avoid recolecting wild greens, not only you are reducing even more the already depleted population but also wild cauth green anoles are notoriously hard to get established and feeding, let alone breeding. There are plennty of farm bred ones for sale cheap.

Thats interesting . I had no idea they would eat smaller anoles. I have seen Knight Anoles take brown anoles from the ground .Well only saw it twice .
For their size they sure can move .

hybridization can wait.
and i've have amazing success with establishment and feeding wild ones
and breeding

Me to but the green anoles felt the winter punch. Imagine by you also?

When i worked at a pet store the brown anoles would lay eggs in the enclosure and the adults would eat them when they managed to hatch.
