Im ready to set up my 46 bow my primary fish are going to be blue jacks what is the difference between elecblue and reg bluejacks, and what can I put with them.:)

EBJDs are more fragile, don't get as big and aren't as agressive.

i payed 40 dollars for a half inch ebjd about two weeks ago and a short power outage while i was out was enough to kill it. that is just an example of how frail they are. i would strongly recommend either buying a large ebjd or just go with an easier fish.

om the other side they look sweet! And who doesn't like a challenge?

I have never had a problem with ebjd's. And they grow pretty quickly if you feed them good foods and change their water. You can grow them an inch a month when they are smaller. My friend only had problems with them when his bichir collapsed a rock cave and smashed one of his 4.

my friend has had one since it was tiny, its 5 inches (roughly) now and looks SWEET!!!!!!

I had 3, all died and they got the red carpet treatment. LFS wont even carry them anymore due to their fragility....so I think maybe the supplier has alot to do with the quality as well.

Ive had a couple ebjd's and I never had a problem besides aggression towards each other. Id only keep more than one if you get them from the same batch, then theyre fine, but dont mix and match. Besides that though, as long as you keep tabs of your water quality you'll be fine. They grow very fast if you feed them well. I kept most of mine on a brine shrimp, blood worm, and flakes diet and theyre all still alive after a couple years and very big.
