Thanks! Probably the nicest pic I ever took of them, gave them to a friend to make room in a tank but they're still chugging along beautifully. Great great cats.

I find it quite strange that yours has grown so slowly, according to this (http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/fme.12082/full) at age 1.5 the mean length of P. pinirampu was nearly 16", which aligns with Amiidae's comments in the Planet Cat thread. You clearly take excellent care of your fish so I'd rule out stunting, though I suppose it could just be a slower growing specimen, wild growth rates are not an absolute. A very, very interesting fish indeed.

Thank you for that link and info. It further reinforces what Amiidae said and my feeling that these are not P. p. that are supposed to reach 4' and have telltale wide and flat barbels.

I'd agree with that...though I have no better idea of what this species is, I have seen a lot of Pinirampus and have found the flat barbels to be very eye-catching.
