I don't, sorry.. I would be willing to say they probably lose that color at around 8-9".. pretty much when their disc becomes 'thicker' around the edges with growth.
I'm not so sure now. I wasn't there when you sold that ray. I thought it was with a group of rays though. Anyways I'll try to find out who bought it and we'll know for sure then. The Blue rays we have now are 8-10" and are blue. don't seem to be loosing it anytime soon. The hue was in the disc so it's not a simbiatic bacteria. I've seen Nasca and Yepesi called Blue motoro's before it could also be that was what they were talking about.
thanks for sharing about the blue motoro, they really look very beautiful.. ahhh.. these and leos.. haha, spotted rays with nice contrasting colors look so good!
From all the rays i have imported i have noticed that the "blue motoro" will in time loose its blue color hue around the disk. But on the other hand the "blue spot motoro" will actually get darker blue rings as the ray settles in. Im not sure if the "blue motoro" is actually a blue spot baby, but the spots due get bluer as the ray ages.
I was browsing the web the other day and came across an site with an awesome picture gallery - I'm sure some of us have seen it before: http://www.raubwelse.de/
Interestingly the fish with a stubtle blue tinge that we seem to be calling a "blue motoro" they refer to as Potamotrygon motoro "SILVER". Whereas the blue coloration on the fish that they show as Potamotrygon motoro "Blue" is incredible! I can't imagine that fading away entirely. Here are the pics the first is the silver and the second, as you might guess, is the blue
wow that last one is REALLY blue. im still not sure about the blue motoro. the blue in the ray from aquascape looks as if its more permanent and healthy, than the blue from the first ray posted by the_deeb
