claire,
damn straight!

They are called blueberry oscars where I live. I am seeing more and more them in the lfs.

Thankfully i've yet to see any dyed oscars at any of my lfs

The site is Death by Dyeing.

Sorry dude but them oscars are definitely dyed. If you can, return them and show people your not willing to support the dyeing of fish even though you didn't know.

shan24 Sounds like a dyed fish. I saw some pics online of bright red oscars - they looked absolutely plastic and horrible and lacked all the characteristics of the real oscar that make them such a fun fish to keep.

Those red oscars are not dyed believe it or not. They are oscars achieved through selective breeding. There is a link on this site about them somewhere.... Would love to get my hands on them blood red oscars.

from what I've read, these fish are ACID DYED to take on colors, so very NOT cool!

I just bought one of these BlueBerry Oscars today approx. an inch and a half to two inches long. Awesome lookin fish, he started chasin food around right away. anyway just thought id post a few pics. I have a 240 gallon tank with 3 oscars 8 parrots, and some live plants at the moment. pics are off my cell phone so sry!

poor little guys... hate to say it but by buying them you encouraged the dying of more fish... but i guess its not your fault because you didn't know. and as you said in your first post in this thread, something about "hitting feeders hard" or something to that extent, i really hope thats not all your feeding them... and hope that if you do feed them feeders at all that you have raised them yourself and are not feeding them those unhealthy, disease-ridden rosy reds and small goldfish...
