Blue Phantom or Gold Nugget??

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I loooove Blue Phantoms. They sell for $40-60 here. GN's are usually $25ish. I just have an eye candy fetish for the Blue Phantoms versus the GN's.

Not even a contest, blue phantom all the way. Gold nuggets are a dime a dozen, blue phantoms are way better. Gold/yellow plecos are pretty common, blue plecos on the other hand are pretty rare.

There were a 2 or 3 gold nuggets and a white tailed royal (which looked sickly) so I held back and said I'll wait till the next sale time/rare opportunity that comes my way. I have another shop that has a starry night a leopard and I think a snowball, but they are more of a mom and pop shop so its kind of pricey, but with good healthy fish. I'm also going through an upgrade as of now so I needed to wait for my tanks to adjust and cycle before I add.

Have you checked out the green phantoms? I like them a lot more than the blues. They go for $40-60 bucks here. Really wish the price would drop!

If there is, go for either L14 goldy plecos (different from gold nuggets) or L114 plecos.

If you do get green phantoms, go for the Baryancistrus demantoides. They get bigger.

I have a gold nugget (L018), a blue phantom (L128) and a green phantom (L200). The gold and blue cost me 40$ each and the green 30$. The blue and green are less shy and easier to feed but the gold's behavior is way more interesting. The problem is that the gold really prefers hot water 28 to 32 (it makes him ten times more active) and the phantoms prefer colder water (22-25).
