I just found a pleasant surprise. I just had (within the last day) a german ram mating. I have never actually bred them before but they made a little cup in the flourite sand there are a bunch of little eggs and two irate parents kicking everyone's *$% that comes near. On the flip side I have an otocinclus and an albino cory that are probably going to be killed before this is over. I am not going to remove the eggs nor try to hard to keep them alive as I understand they have small mouths and won't feed on brine shrimp. I don't have quick access to vinegar eels and from what I understand they hatch FAST. They probably won't make it anyway as there are a couple cories and mulitple small plecos and a fairly large discus. I may put them in a tank in the future and try my hand at it. It's still exciting though. Here's a few terrible pics. However if someone who has been in this unexpected position before with similar situations as I have and you know a trick or two to save some babies..... I'm all ears.:grinno:

Awesome! Congrats on the spawning. I'm afraid I'm not much help though. I've had rams spawn several times, both blue and the gold ones, never got a flipping fry out of any of them. Either the parents would eat them, or not fertile, or pleco pillage, or whatever. Good luck with yours and keep us posted.

Good luck with the eggs. My rams always eat them. They're absolutely terrible parents in all the experience I've had. Much better luck with JDs and blue acaras. :-)
