Flagstone? Slate?

Blue Stone is kinda generic...

so whats the out come of this?

today I cleaned them all and poured acid on them. No bubbles but you can hear the fizz ( I poured about 5 cups all over them)

Safe or no? I wanna put them in tmw while I am doing a water chanege

I have no idea why you are pouring acid on these. That would be my main concern getting acid in your aquarium. As for the slate there is no problem as long as you clean them up good. oh and get all the acid off and out of the slate. I hope you have some neutralizer handy.

Isnt that what you supposed to do with stone to see if its ok with aquariums is put acid on them? Then if it bubbles its no good? After the test I rinsed down the stones, and they have been sitting outside since then. Im glad it will work, now I have to design how I want to put them in.

judging from the picks those look like slate... majored in geology and actually asked my professor about putting certain rocks in the aquarium and he said generally any silicates are safe and wont dissolve in your water. granted thats slate and i think it is. it is mostly made up of quartz and muscovite/chlorite which are all silicates and therefore aquarium safe.

i have several pieces of slate in my aquariums and so far no problems with it.

That stuff is fine, I use it in my tanks.
