Does anyone know where you can purchase Blue Tegus from?

I saw a pair at a recent expo and fell in love with how they look. And decided that when it comes time to buy my tegu this is the type I wanted to look for primarily (though, I do love the Golds and regular B&Ws, not too fond of the Reds but some look pretty cool).

But I've got plenty of time to search, I'm still building the enclosures, but would appreciate any points in the right direction. I just can't find much on them except old posts and threads from a few years back in various places.

Thanks!

I just sold my pair in Hamburg in February. They were beautiful, and I really wish I still had them. I've been looking for hatchings, and they are almost impossible to find, but I think there are 1 or 2 people that are successfully breeding them each year.

Varnyard.
Send him an email/call him and get put on his waiting list.
He's a great guy that really cares for his animals.

Bobby Hill / Varnyard does not produce Blues...

Fauna Classifieds or Kingsnake.com are the two places I know of to look for them...

A Guy that goes by (screen name) DragonDave on Bobby Hill's forum (www.tegutalk.com) has a breeding pair. He produced them a few years in a row but last year they did not breed. I'm not sure if they are showing signs of breeding this year.

If you watch Faunaclassifieds.com it is likely you will find a caring hobbyist who got one and simply cannot care for it anymore. If you prove to them you can supply great living conditions is it likely they will let it go at a good price.

Yeah I didn't think Varnyard did blues. They do the hybrids, but not pure blues. I wonder why...

just keep looking on the classifieds. no main stream breeders are breeding them as far as i know and caould find a year or so ago..

i have talked with DragonDave and his babies always look to be very healthy and his parent stock is very nice looking as well

Oh, that was you? Those were the first tegus I had ever seen, actually lol. I had one of the vendors take me around and show me what tegus to buy and what not to buy if I ever decided to get into them. They were gorgeous, that's for sure. My fiance loved them, too, it's why he's been so helpful and tolerant of the idea of getting a tegu... he liked those first two. ^_^ (He wants a red tegu more now though... grr).

No, Bobby doesn't sell them. He uses them in his breeding of the "All American" hybrid, but that's it. That's a gorgeous animal, though!

Yea, I'm keeping an eye on there. Thanks!
