Just because you see something at a zoo doesn't make it acceptable. China's zoo's for example, you can pay a fee and throw a live goat to tigers. Definatly not acceptable. :nilly:

Seriously, the zoo here had a tank with pacu pbass, and aros in an enclosure with leopards. It didnt end well for the fish.
but since neither the dragon or the skink would be inclined to eat the other...

WRONG. Bearded dragons have voracious appetites, unless you keep it considerably well fed, it will go poking around on your blue tongue skink. It can be done, but the risks appear to be rather high, and both must be really well fed. To substantiate myself, go to youtube and watch what a beardie does to live pinky mice, as distasteful as it is. I have seen that be possible when I was in perth four years before. I suppose plenty of shelter will protect them from taking a chunk out of each other. And remember to separate at first signs of aggression.

^^^True,

Also Blue tongues can be aggressive towards anything but female blue tongues and they don't like letting go when they bite. They also don't exactly hang out together in the wild and while they are most likely captive bred, their instincts will tell them that that other guy isn't supposed to be there. At best if they don't fight they will slowly die from the stress they cause each other and you will be out 2 lizards (Zoo's can afford to replace them and have the facilities to separate them if needed without compromising the care of either animal) plus I think blue tongues’ are more woodland then desert even though they are found in the same general area it's not all desert, I think you would be hard pressed to find someone keeping they're blue tongue in a sand substrate. I would get 2 of either the beardies or the blue tongue.

You have a large yard and nice lizards that come from the wilderness nearby.

then yes, it can be done.

Totally wrong. What zoos do in huge enclosures, containing different micro-habitats,and what you do at home in a 60 gallon viv is quite different.Have you ever seen the damage an adult male beardie can do-they can crush another animals head in their jaws, and as for Blue-Tongues,an angry one bites like a pit-bull!

One other main point, Most Blue-Tongues you see in the trade come from Indonesia,Australia has an export ban on its wildlife,so will require different conditions to a beardie from the outback.

Can these two be kept together? They both live in Australia and require same temp, diet, and humidity. I have seen these two living together at the zoo.

You answered your question. I get beardies and blue tongues in my back yard.
