wow cuz i just read that they will.lol.And not to handle the tails roughly.Just thought it was funny after seeing you holding yours tail, lol.I know you know what your doing though and thanks so much for the pic.Ive been leaning on cresteds and tree frogs lately but the thought of blues just keeps haunting me.I mean whats not to like?Matter of finding a baby now.Still want the crested and frog though, lol. Thanks again for pics, hes awsome.

I know what you mean...I've never seen a BT drop a tail in captivity. I mean, I don't swing him around by his tail or anything, I don't even pic him up by it normally. During his recent two week escape in the basement, I spotted his tail under a shelf and grabbed it long enough to lift the shelf and pull him out, all the while with him trying to get away. Didn't come off then...

The point I was making is it's far, far more unlikely than say, a gecko dropping it's tail. Depends on the lizards mood too...To drop a tail special muscles pull apart the vertebrae at the fracture planes during stressful situations...You also still need to pull hard enough to rip the muscle and skin apart too...

Kinda hard for them to drop their tails...

If you are thinking of the Blue 5-Lined Skinks, then I can see.

I kioka. The reason im saing this is because ive seen one that had a regenaretad tail , in a pet store( and was cheaper because of this:naughty:). But it seems hard , in particular for the bigest species to do this(and ive never seen or heard of such a thing happening to a tilinqua rugosa):nilly:

Well, if it's a petstore, then you have no idea what happened.

Could be stuck shed, amputated, birth defect, et cetera. Although I never seen one with a regenerated tail.

so why do i go to crapy shops in my town and see adults and ask how their tempers are and i always get,oh that thing is a mean mutha? And i hope you dont think i was baggin on the tail grabbin.I was just messin, your skink is awsome.

Mines makes a fuss and hisses when you pic him up...sometimes he's made a half-assed lunge at my hand...and he's a mean Bluetongue lol, mostly 'cause I don't take him out much. All bluster though lol. I've only ever been bitten by one BT and man, did I deserve it lol.

oh man,so do they become real tame with good holding from babies or what. From vids ive seen and such it seems like they do.

I guess I'll share more. Mine eats mostly rodents and cat food. I've never seen one drop their tail, and when you get a hold of that tail, you'll see why. Mine also will hiss (or what I call huff-and-puff) while I grab him, but he never bites, and calms down right away. I think it's just him "talking" to me.
