Hi,

I bought 3 of these a few months back. I've read that the females are orange, but all 3 of mine are blue. However, 2 of them (what I think are males) are bigger, than the other one, so I'm thinking (hoping) that the smaller one (sometimes shows a slight hint of stripes) is a female....
Could this be possible? I'm going to struggle getting any females around here, if they are all males!!!!

Thanks

They can be either blue or orange.. mteriaclima estherae come in different shades, you'll know for sure when they get bigger, do you have any pics? i've got a bunch of this type so I might be able to tell if they are m/f...

Let them grow out for some time and when you notice a size difference, the smaller is the females.

True. I'm on holiday for the next week or so, but will post pics when I get back. I'm pretty sure I've got 2m, 1f, as the 'f' is smaller than the other 2. Am going to have to find some more before they get too big, because I've only been able to find them at about 1.5-2 inchs.

when i buy small African Cichlid's, i buy 10 or more just this reason, you never know what can happen down the road......

estherae are born either orange or blue and do not change colors i have f1 minos reef, blue males orange females.....they are sexed as fry because of the color difference
