...Tis a shame the target audience for such novelty is little kids, kind of like the chicks at easter. Also the spongebob tanks with packaging that show's five huge goldfish crammed in a 2.5 gallon are particularly bothersome..... distasteful business tactics man, getting them into the hobby the wrong way. Sets them up to probably lose the fish not really enjoy them.

I don't know that I would boycott the particular store because they sell dyed/tattooed fish. If I did that, I wouldn't have anywhere to go get my supplies :( I've pretty much got all the fish I want, but I still have to buy their food and such. I think it's cruel and anyone I know that is thinking of getting a tank, I explain it to them and I even will explain it to people that are considering buying them in the LFS when the employees walk away. I agree, these fish are stocked for impulse buyers or people just starting out in fish keeping. I think trying to educate people about these fish is more important than just walking away. My mother tried to buy dyed fish for my nephews and I showed her that it was cruelty to the fish, and asked her "Would you have tattooed your dog? No. So why support this?" Needless to say, she bought them different fish.

never buy these fish, the b*****ds who do this do not have the right to make a profit and a living by doing this!

While I whole-heartedly agree with you on this point, however I feel inclined to point out (and I myself supported the practice by purchasing four) that I nearly puked when I found out the brutality involved in the totally unatural "creation" of these NON-SPECIES hybrid Flowerhorns.

I am not knocking you, just asking that you go and do research for you own personal knowledge. Please DO NOT trust me that many dozens of fish are "culled" in the "production" of every (Flowerhorn) on the market. Do the research and decide for yourself!:(
