Dyes are inject into the anus and mouth of the fish using a tube like enema. Ive seen this practice done with antibiotics and the fish hated every second of it and felt very violated im sure. These toxins in the dyes (petroleum based) do horrible damage to the kidneys and liver. Dying is usually done to the low-grade, should be culled fish, Its a terrible way for breeders to make money from unsuspecting buyers.

Im not here to tell you what to buy, Just thought I would clear this up.
Ouch! You just described a typical alien abduction experience. That's a terrible practice. This is not comparable to a person getting a tattoo at all. I'm pretty sure that having this process done at a tattoo parlor would greatly shorten someones life and promptly result in criminal prosecutions and life-long mental therapy. This is crazy.

I forgot to mention this happens after the fish go through acid baths to remove the protective slime coat and dipped into more petroleum based dies. And from there if the colors dont stick to certain areas they spot shot dye into the skin with hypodermic needles and any kind of black markings are scraped off with a razor blade.

Also this is only 1 of the inhumane ways breeders use to artificially make their fish appear more attractive for a short period of time. After a couple months all you have is a poor fish with a weak genetic make-up and damaged organs.

that's messed up , i didn't no they were doing that to oscars .ive seen the gourami's like that for probably 10 or more years now .they inject those fish . i haven't heard about the health problems either but that is not cool ....
